The “EdTech Bluprint” offers a strategic analysis of the edtech sector, divided into four key sections. It starts by examining major shifts in edtech over the past 24 months, then broadens the lens to assess macroeconomic influences on education. From there, it narrows in on Blume Ventures’ perspective of the edtech opportunity landscape, and finally, provides a deep dive into specific areas ripe for growth and innovation.
Resource
Since our last version of EdTech Bluprint in 2022, we’ve seen a reduction in investor interest in the space & most of the investments are happening at a growth stage. But folks are still studying! EdTech might be receiving less love, but education is still as essential as ever.
India is still home to 25% of the world’s children. There are 265 million K‑12 students in India and 43 million students pursuing higher education.
With just 22 Indian universities featured in the QS World University Rankings and the growing demand for seats in these ‘prestigious’ institutions, acceptance rates range from a mere 0.7% to 3%, far lower than those of top universities abroad. This disparity reflects the increasing desire among 55% of Indian parents to send their children overseas for higher education, seeking better opportunities and global recognition.
Only 45% of Indian graduates possess the skills required to meet industry demands. It reveals a clear divide, with 44% being employable for technical roles while over 53% are suited for non-technical jobs.
We cover how the survivors went about it by driving demand, ensuring payment collections, driving post programme outcomes, building prestigious institutions & bringing an optimal LTV:CAC.
