While in a public forum, investors are generally put on a pedestal (not that I agree with that treatment, but more on that later), in private very few investors get the same respect. Because, let’s face it, many indeed don’t deserve it. They may have cut the cheque, but the sad truth is that most investors don’t add much value to the business beyond attending the quarterly board meetings, forget making a founder comfortable to share her personal life with them.
