LeadTribe

Leadtribe 6

A mission to help women founders find their tribe

Lead Tribe is a cohort-based learning and networking program powered by Blume Ventures for early stage female founders to become better leaders & achieve their professional and business goals. It was conceptualised in 2020, when we at Blume dug deeper into a problem that perplexed us — how do we help solve the visible founder gender gap in the startup ecosystem?

Exclusive Cloud Partner

Learning

Access to private, closed circle learning sessions with seasoned founders, operators and investors on modules that span hiring, marketing, fundraising.

Community

An ability to build a support network that starts at the program and lasts forever (as our previous cohort founders have taught us!). Additionally, the program is designed to unlock long term mentors for the founders from others in the ecosystem

Bootcamp

Meet your cohort IRL over an in-person 2 day bootcamp that will be held in Bangalore (23-24 June, 2023) for closed door sessions, workshops on GTM, Product, Fundraise and more. We believe that there are no substitutes to offline experiences for learning and building communities.

The learning sessions were great but what’s greater is the tribe of amazing founders, hustling, juggling, crushing every day. To me the biggest value add has been the fellow founders and their camaraderie.

Program curriculum

Over the span of 5 weeks, we will cover 4 online sessions and 10 in-person sessions during the bootcamp on 23-24 June 2023. We try our best to cover as many topics as we can that will help your 0 to 1 (or rather, 1.5) journey.

1) Workshop on PMF: When have I hit PMF and what do I do before and after that?

2) Fundraising 101: How to engineer an impactful VC funding round and what to do if I can't raise that?

3) Investor Storytelling: What and how should I pitch to whom and when?

4) Product 201: How should I think of design, product, and metrics tracking to maximize engagement and revenue?

5) Legal & Finance AMA: Ask your most pressing questions around ESOP, legal, tax, finance to our experts.

6) Content Marketing: How can I use social media and modern age influencers for better reach?

7) GTM 101: What channels, narratives, and pricing are the most effective to sell?

8) Acing Consumer Delight: How do I drive (and retain) unparalleled customer love?

9) Founder Mental Health: How do I get my body and mind ready for this decade long (or more) marathon?

10) Hiring and Culture: What does it take to build, retain, motivate, and incentivize a world class team?

FAQ

Yes, for the time being, LeadTribe is best suited for founders looking to follow the VC path to scale. As a dominant player in the early stage VC landscape we believe that our learnings, insights, and network are most optimal for founders who are navigating through a similar path. As and when we scale LeadTribe to greater heights, we will create more programs for other sub-communities too.

The curriculum will have a session on Fundraising (with a focus on raising early stage funding), led by a leading early stage investor. We have also seen several instances of Lead Tribe 1 cohort members getting introductions to future investors from fellow cohort members.

Does selection into Lead Tribe mean funding from Blume? No. Joining Lead Tribe neither improves nor hurts your chances of raising funding from Blume.

The LeadTribe experience is ideal for founders of startups that can be described as:

  1. Post launch of a Beta/GA product.
  2. Having raised some angel/pre-seed funding
  3. Having acquired their first set of customers (8-10 for SMB/Mid market or 2-3 customers for Enterprise for B2B) or 1000-2000 customers (B2C)

Founders who have not yet developed their MVP (minimum viable product) may not be able to make the most of some of our distribution and marketing-related sessions.

No. Selection into Lead Tribe is for the founder who applies, and not their startup. Non-founder L1s (including founding team members) and male co-founders will not be given access to the community channels or the live sessions. While your female co-founders also do not get access to the closed door sessions, we’d be happy to have them join our informal sessions and meetups.

The program will kickoff with a few online modules and the cohort will then convene in Bangalore on the 23rd, 24th of June 2023 in Bangalore for a bootcamp. This bootcamp consists of the crux of the learning modules and community building efforts of this cohort so we strongly encourage to apply only if you can make it to them.

In addition to this, Blume will organize informal cohort meet-ups in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore that cohort members are encouraged to attend to make the most of the community experience throughout the year for alumni and current cohort members.

In case of unforeseeable and uncontrollable circumstances (eg: rampant COVID-19 wave) we might have to change the dates in the interest of everyone's safety and comfort, but we will try our best to keep this unchanged.

The bootcamp is the core of the learning modules and community building of this cohort, and so we will unfortunately not be able to accept your application if you are unable to attend both days in person. You will be required to manage your travel and stay in Bangalore for the duration of the Bootcamp.

Over the span of 5 weeks, we will cover ~4 online sessions and ~10 in-person sessions during the bootcamp on 23-24 June 2023. We try our best to cover as many topics as we can that will help your 0 to 1 (or rather, 1.5) journey. While we will share the exact curriculum closer to the date, here are a few sessions you can expect:

Each online session will be 60 minutes long and will happen on a Saturday morning to be mindful of founder schedules. The in-person bootcamp (23-24 June, 2023) will carry the bulk of the sessions and workshops and it is a mandatory requirement of the program member to attend this in person to maximise your ROI from LeadTribe.

For me, the Lead tribe program is about not pulling punches and saying it like it is. My favorite was the session with Karthik. That kind of set the tone for the community that followed after. It is a safe space for women entrepreneurs, not just to share wins but also struggles and the ups and downs that come along with running a business. The kind of connects I have made here are amazing.
