  1. Unacademy Founded

    Gaurav Munjal starts a YouTube channel as an engineering student to democratize education to every corner of the country. The channel keeps growing, on the back of his friend Roman Saini’s IAS study tips and hacks.

  2. Hemesh Singh joins as CTO

    Right after the acquisition of Flat​.to (a startup Gaurav ran from 2013 — 2015) to CommonFloor, Gaurav brings in Hemesh Singh from Flat​.to to be Unacademy’s CTO.

  3. Live Classes

    Launch live classes, accessible only to the paid users. Also introduce an ad-free version of Unacademy which is accessible only to users who have paid a subscription fee.

  4. Roman Saini joins as third Co-Founder

    Roman Saini resigns from his position as District Collector in Madhya Pradesh and joins Unacademy as its third co-founder.

  5. Series A

    Raise Series A round of $4.5m led by Blume Ventures and Nexus Venture Partners.

    Unacademy becomes India’s largest online learning platform with 1m+ learners and 40K live classes.

  9. 10k educators | 3m users

    The company scales new milestones in Indian edtech – 10,000 registered educators, 3,000 active educators, three million users, lessons watched more than 40 million times.

  10. Launch Unacademy Plus subscription

    Launch Unacademy Plus subscription after a beta of two months. The subscription gives learners preparing for various examinations unlimited access to live classes by the best teachers in the country.

  11. Series D

    Close a $50m Series D round from Steadview Capital, Sequoia India, Nexus Venture Partners and Blume Ventures. Look to onboard more educators, fuel growth across multiple exam categories, and build a world-class product and team.
