Right after the acquisition of Flat.to (a startup Gaurav ran from 2013 - 2015) to CommonFloor, Gaurav brings in Hemesh Singh from Flat.to to be Unacademy’s CTO.
Launch live classes, accessible only to the paid users. Also introduce an ad-free version of Unacademy which is accessible only to users who have paid a subscription fee.
Roman Saini resigns from his position as District Collector in Madhya Pradesh and joins Unacademy as its third co-founder.
Raise Series A round of $4.5m led by Blume Ventures and Nexus Venture Partners.
Raise Series B round led by Sequoia India and Saif Partners. Blume also participates in this round. The team aims to onboard over 1,000 educators.
Unacademy becomes India’s largest online learning platform with 1m+ learners and 40K live classes.
The company scales new milestones in Indian edtech – 10,000 registered educators, 3,000 active educators, three million users, lessons watched more than 40 million times.
Launch Unacademy Plus subscription after a beta of two months. The subscription gives learners preparing for various examinations unlimited access to live classes by the best teachers in the country.
Close a $50m Series D round from Steadview Capital, Sequoia India, Nexus Venture Partners and Blume Ventures. Look to onboard more educators, fuel growth across multiple exam categories, and build a world-class product and team.
